You may recall the witch dunking and burnination of ioSafe's Solo backup drive from CES earlier this year. We got pics and video of ioSafe's flagship 500GB getting the full torture treatment, while protecting the data on the hard drive through the entire session. That's right, the ioSafe Solo is waterproof and fireproof, and it comes in three flavors: 500GB, 1TB and 1.5TB.

ioSafe Solo Backup Drive Burned at CES 2009, Still Works

Doesn't ioSafe CEO Robb Moore sound exactly like Grant Imahara? Their mannerisms are also strikingly similar...

Anyway, we got the 500GB Solo in for review, and while I don't care to take this monster outside and drop it on the grill, I do care to use it to the ends of time to backup my most important family pics and videos, files, programs, and random thoughts that I cared to put on e-paper.

So, here's a little out-of-box video, showing just how easy it is to connect the ioSafe Solo and backup your stuff. The Solo comes with exactly two things: a USB cable, and a little power brick. Plug it in to an outlet, and to your computer, and you're up and running. Windows and Mac compatible, the Solo is a no-brainer if you find yourself increasingly reliant on backups to protect mission-critical data and personal memories. Plus, it's named after one of the best Star Wars characters of all time. It's a win-win!
